Garden Ridge has no courthouse square or Main Street to string lights across. Its hometown holiday calendar uses two addresses instead. One is the Community and Event Center at 9500 Municipal Pkwy. The other is Northeast Bible Church at 19185 FM 2252, where Garden Ridge Market Days sets up every second Saturday. Between early November and early December, every event the city and the market have posted at those addresses has free admission. The money only comes into it when you drive to New Braunfels or out Natural Bridge Caverns Road, and those paid events fall on the same weekends as the free ones.
That makes the order you do things in matter more than the list itself.

None of the Garden Ridge rows carries a ticket price, and the regional events keep landing on the same weekends as the local ones.
Wurstfest opens first, and City Hall follows two days later
The city's Friendsgiving Potluck Dinner is set for Sunday, Nov. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Garden Ridge Community and Event Center. For now the city's listing says only "More details closer to event date!" so check back before you decide what dish to bring.
Two days later, on Tuesday, Nov. 10, the city's November calendar lists a Flag Retirement Ceremony at 11 a.m. and a Veterans Day Celebration at noon. Neither listing names a venue yet, so confirm the location on the calendar before you head over.
Wurstfest is already running by then. It opens Friday, Nov. 6, and lasts through Sunday, Nov. 15, in Landa Park near the Comal River headwaters. Admission is free Monday through Thursday. Friday and Sunday tickets bought online cost $15. Saturday costs $25 online and $30 at the gate, and children 12 and under get in free.
Put the two calendars side by side and it gets practical. Friendsgiving falls on Wurstfest's first Sunday, a $15 day. The Veterans Day events fall on a Tuesday, which is a free Wurstfest day. A household that wants to do both can go to the city events at midday and take the 3009 corridor up to Landa Park that evening without paying a gate fee. To do Wurstfest and the potluck on the same Sunday, you'd be paying the weekend price for an afternoon you then cut short to be back on Municipal Parkway by 5.
Nov. 14 is the biggest day on the local calendar
The Garden Ridge Market Days Holiday Market runs Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Northeast Bible Church. The market bills itself as the largest pop-up market in the San Antonio area. For the holiday edition it lists more than 200 local food, craft and farm vendors and more than 50 food trucks and food vendors, with free admission and parking.
Here's what the organizers have posted for that Saturday:
- Giving drive: Angel Helpers Ministry and Seeds of Love Outreach will collect food and toys for people in need.
- For kids: a princess meet-and-greet with Dare to Dream Entertainment, plus a free scavenger hunt with prizes, chalk art, crafts, games, bubbles, sand play and a photo spot. Face painting by Angie Balloons and balloon art by K T Rentals both work for tips.
- Farm tables: honey, produce, grass-fed beef, chicken, eggs, goat cheeses and soaps.
- Music: live sets by Joel Guerrero.
- Logistics: leashed dogs are welcome. The market is indoor and outdoor with shade trees, and it runs rain or shine.
That Saturday is also Wurstfest's last Saturday, when tickets cost $25 online. The market closes at 2:30 p.m., so a family can shop locally in the morning and still decide on the drive home whether the afternoon at Landa Park is worth the weekend price. If you're bringing items for the toy drive, pack them before you leave. That's easy to forget once the car is full of market bags.
The Friday before Thanksgiving week belongs to New Braunfels
The following weekend shifts north. New Braunfels holds its Downtown Lighting & Santa's Arrival on Friday, Nov. 20, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Main Plaza. It's free, and it includes free Santa photos you take yourself and a Holiday Haus Vendor Market. A free shuttle runs from New Braunfels City Hall from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Check the city's page for where shuttle riders should park.
The same weekend, the Sophienburg's Weihnachtsmarkt runs Nov. 20 to 22 at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center, 375 S. Castell Ave., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. A Gala opens it on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Breakfast with Santa is Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. A Breakfast with Santa purchase covers one child and one adult, and each additional adult needs a $15 market ticket. Check the general market ticket price on the Sophienburg site before you go.
Garden Ridge's own calendar goes quiet for this stretch, with nothing listed between the Nov. 14 market and the Dec. 4 tree lighting. That gap matches the busiest regional weekend of the season almost exactly.
Dec. 4 at home, Dec. 5 at the Caverns
The city's Christmas Tree Lighting is Friday, Dec. 4, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the Community and Event Center Grounds at 9500 Municipal Pkwy. The city hasn't posted a program yet, so watch the listing as the date gets closer.
The next night, Christmas at the Caverns opens at Natural Bridge Caverns, 26495 Natural Bridge Caverns Rd. Its 2026 dates are Dec. 5 to 6, Dec. 12 to 13 and Dec. 18 to 23. The Caverns sells four ticket tiers, and buying online saves money:
- Christmas Grounds Admission, $26.99 adult and $18.99 child: ice skating, the Reindeer Maze, the Trail of Lights, a campfire, storytime with Mrs. Claus and a visit with Santa.
- Grounds plus Caroling, $42.99 adult and $29.99 child: adds the Caroling Tour.
- Grounds plus Twisted Trails, $39.99 adult and $29.99 child: adds the Twisted Trails Tour.
- Jingle All the Way, $49.99 adult and $37.99 child: Grounds, the Caroling Tour and Twisted Trails together.
Parking costs $10 a day and is paid on-site.
For two adults and two children, the entry tier comes to $91.96 before parking, and Jingle All the Way comes to $175.96. The Garden Ridge tree lighting the night before is a city event with no ticket price posted. Both events have Santa on the schedule. If seeing Santa is the goal, the hometown event gets you there first. If the cave tours are the draw, the Caverns' December run continues through Dec. 23, which leaves room for out-of-town guests who arrive late in the month.
Where the free calendar and the paid one overlap
Here's one way to sequence the season around the Garden Ridge dates:
- Sun., Nov. 8: potluck at the Community and Event Center, skipping Wurstfest's $15 Sunday.
- Tue., Nov. 10: city flag retirement and Veterans Day events, then Wurstfest on a free weekday evening if you want it.
- Sat., Nov. 14: Holiday Market from 9:30 a.m., with toy-drive donations in the car.
- Fri., Nov. 20: shuttle from New Braunfels City Hall to the Main Plaza lighting.
- Fri., Dec. 4: tree lighting at 9500 Municipal Pkwy.
- Dec. 12 to 13 or Dec. 18 to 23: Christmas at the Caverns, once the opening weekend has passed.
Event details at every one of these venues can still change, so check each organizer's page the week of. The city calendar especially is a live schedule, and listings like the Nov. 10 venue and the tree-lighting program still have details to fill in.
